History

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta as private educational institutions and part of the national education system has the goal of which is based on national education goals : to realize the noble Muslim scholars that competent, confident, and useful for Indonesia and the world, decided to establish School of Nursing program. Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta hopes that the establishment of School of Nursing could generate Bachelor of Nursing (S.Kep) and Islamic nurses profession as part of its support to national development, especially in the provision of human resources to improve the quality of health care to build Indonesia. This program becomes part of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Started from the discussion of the nurses in Muhammadiyah / Aisyiyah, it was agreed that the discussions need periodic execution in Academy of Nursing Aisyiyah. In 1997, there was a panel discussion in Academy of Nursing Aisyiyah together with Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta attended by institutions in Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah, including Academy of Nursing Jakarta Islamic Hospital. In addition, there was also a consortium of health sciences from Department of Education, Prof. Ma’rifin Husin. In 2000 with the issuance of Rector’s Decree 062/SK-UMY/IV/2000 concerning the appointment of School of Nursing Structural, dated 11 April 2000 which decided to make School of Nursing become part of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in Sonopakis campus. Starting the year 2002/2003, the educational activities School of Nursing program was transferred to integrated campus Jl. Lingkar Selatan, Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta.

By 2004 School of Nursing managed to get A1 Competitive Grant Program from DIKTI and in 2005 the School of Nursing has been accredited by BAN DIKTI. In 2009, School of Nursing managed to get B accreditation. By 2015, School of Nursing had re-apply for accreditation for undergraduate and profession program and managed to get Accreditation A (BAN-PT Decree No: 851/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-SURV/PN /VIII2015).

School of Nursing Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is unity of undergraduate nursing and profession nurses academic program. In 2012, School of Nursing Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta began to implement full system block to lecture approach in Competency Based Curriculum (KBK). Full block approach is expected to improve the quality of teaching and student competency School of Nursing Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
